Spark, Defer, Repeat

“Spark, Defer, Repeat” is a collection of pieces I have completed, recreated, and never finished as an art teacher. Together on canvas little drawings made to help individuals are stitched together with half-done projects, and example notes. My goal is to highlight the juxtaposition of art notes made for students to follow along year after year, next to pieces that have been hung up on the board year after year but never completed.  The final pieces’ size is 24”x 36” canvas made of drawings and paintings in various media collaged and stitched together with embroidery thread. I hope to show how even in the field of art as an educator when we are creating and surrounded by art everyday we can still get stuck in a repetitive loop and lose the drive to finish your own work.
